(August 12, 2015) The Alberta Small Brewers Association is pleased to announce Alberta Beer Week 2015, a celebration of the great beer brewed in Alberta. Taking place at venues across the province, Alberta Beer Week officially opens during the Calgary Oktoberfest on Friday, September 25th, 2015 and closes at the Edmonton Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 3, 2015.
Other highlights during the week include:
– The Official Pre-Party at Willow Park Wine & Spirits in Calgary on Thursday, September 24th, 2015
– Big Rock Brewery’s 30th Birthday Bash on Saturday, September 26th, 2015
– A total Alberta tap-takeover for the week at Beer Revolution in Calgary and Edmonton
All breweries that are members of the Alberta Small Brewers Association will be involved in Alberta Beer Week. Many additional events are being planned and will be announced as they are finalized.
“Alberta Beer Week is the first province-wide celebration of our burgeoning brewing industry,” says Greg Zeschuk, Executive Director of the Alberta Small Brewers Association. “Our breweries will be hosting and taking part in events to share their beer with Albertans across the province.”
“The number of Alberta-based breweries has increased from 8 in 2010 to 17 in 2015, with geographic expansion beyond the Calgary-Edmonton corridor to Edgerton in the east, Banff and Jasper in the West, Fort McMurray in the north and Lethbridge in the south,” notes Neil Herbst, Chairman of the Alberta Small Brewers Association and founder/co-owner of Alley Kat. “Several more breweries are also under development with plans to open this year.”
